What is WEGSS?
West to East Global Sustainability Stories is a community led content platform focused on sharing hopeful sustainability stories. We collect Global Sustainability Stories from a diversity of people around the world. We invite a global community of storytellers to share positive, inspirational, and hopeful content focused on sustainability. Through our resources, we hope to foster collective change by positively connecting people to our world and WEGSS community.
Why did we create WEGSS?
- To dispel general cultural and social norms of negativity, uncertainty, and hopelessness especially around environmental topics.
- To strengthen individual connection to the global community and natural world.
- To empower individuals by providing a platform for collective content sharing that is positive, hopeful, and inspiring.
Our Symbol
Our symbols, the Osprey & the Compass, were selected thoughtfully to represent the founding principles of the WEGSS platform. The Osprey symbolically represents resiliency in journey, freedom of spirit, collective vision, & an aspiration to learn. The Compass, with the cardinal directions of North, South, East, & West, was invented by humans to quantify a sense of place in the vast universe. The Compass illustrates the journey of life & physical the interconnection of an individual to the global community.
Storytelling is Human. Sustainability connects to everything and all of us.
